Size: The rule
of thumb for selecting a dining room chandelier is to add the length
of your room in feet the the width of your room in feet and then take the resulting
number in inches (instead of feet).
For example, if your room is 10 ft long x 12 ft wide, you would be looking for a
chandelier about 22 inches wide (10 + 12 = 22).
The Wilcox,
Tin Whistle,
Hatboro,
Sullins,
Virginia House,
Petticoat,
Falls Church
and Sheraton chandeliers fall within the size range of a dining room chandelier.
Smaller chandeliers such as the
Waverly,
the
four-arm Peppermill, the
Bradley
and the
Dinwiddy are great hallway, bedroom, entryway or laundry room lights, but
are a little small for over a dining room table.

canopy about 5 1/2" wide and either 18" or 36" of chain as stated. Extra chain is

Fabric: Any style of curtain that we show
can be special ordered in any fabric. We will send you up to five swatches of fabric
in the color(s) you are interested in at no charge.
|
|
Length: Usually curtains are made to come
down to the window ledge but longer or shorter (see Country Inn Curtain) frequently works
also. Measurements include a 1 1/2" header and a 1 1/2" rod pocket. The length you wish
to order might vary, depending on where the curtain rod will go. If you are going
to mount the curtain inside the window frame then measure from top to bottom of
the window frame. If you are going to put the curtain on an "outside" rod, the measurement
might be a little bit longer.
|
|
Width: Rule of thumb is to order curtains
twice as wide as your window. For extra fullness they can be up to three times as
wide. Most curtains can be made as wide as you would like by using an extra valance
or two. Each side panel is about 40" wide and valances are about 40" wide for a
total of 120". Curtains without valances are about 80" wide. (See
New Betsy Ross
and Virginia House Curtain.)
|
|
Lining: Most of our curtains are lined with
muslin (See
Virginia House Curtain but some are unlined (See
Tavern Swag) and some are lined with a contrasting
homespun (See
New Betsy Ross). Prices are based on what is shown but we can make
to your specifications.
|
|
Special Orders: The colors and sizes listed
in the catalog with each curtain are not considered a "special order" and may be
returned. Changes in the listed lengths, fabrics, header, and rod pocket sizes are
considered a "special order" and as such are not returnable. Custom orders are charged
in full prior to placing them with the seamstress and take about three to four weeks.
Shower curtains, door panels, and fishtail swags are also available.
